This listing is a wonderful EARLY! compote in the Dresden floral pattern. The outer band is 1 3/4" wide with alternating reticulated (or pierced) flowers and cross hatched panels. The interior of the bowl is a beautiful Dresden floral pattern. This hand painted compote has a large yellow blossom and a red iris as the predominant flowers. The diameter of the plate is 9 1/4". The pedestal base is 3 3/4" high and attaches with a wing nut on a screw rod. The total height is 5". The backstamp is green. It is a coat of arms that has C BAVARIA S inside it. According to online research, this is one of the earliest touch marks. It dates this piece ca. 1900-1927, possibly earlier. Hand painted by C. Schumann, possibly father-Christian, mother-Christiana, or son-Carl or Christopher of the Schumann family.
