Thank you for taking time to look at Something Old! My eCrater store is an extension of my antique business that started in the late 1970s. I only choose things for my inventory that I would care to keep for myself. I have traveled with my husband literally all over the world---for him to present medical papers and to stay up to the minute about sports medicine, giving me the perfect opportunity to shop for treasures.
I started out just selling textiles---table and bed linens, gorgeous hand towels, and wonderful laces. But they have gotten harder and harder to find. So, in order to stay in business, I had to start collecting other types of things---always things that I love---primarily silver, porcelain, and glass. I have been a member of the Little Glass Club in Memphis for years, which originated in the early 1900s. Each month's program is devoted to a different type of glass, so it has been wonderful to learn about the glass and then find a piece.
The few new things that are in my collection are things that I truly believe in.
Like the Wright's Silver polish...It is the best that I have found, and I polish a lot of silver! It literally takes me 3 days to polish it all when the mood strikes me or when I get embarrassed enough!
Like the Rosy Rings candles...They are absolutely the most delicious smelling candles. I choose different fragrances for different areas of my home. I love the smell of the Damask Rose when I am luxuriating in a soaking tub. The Spicy Apple is wonderful in the kitchen/keeping room. And each of my guest rooms has its own fragrance. My friends love to receive one of these candles as a gift, too!
Like the new selection of lamp finials that I am just starting to carry...I think finials add sparkle to a room and add the finishing touch to a lamp. I have a different one on every lamp in my home, chosen according to the style and the setting. And the finials make great, inexpensive gifts.
If you become a customer, you become a friend. I hope you will think of our relationship that way. I have made some wonderful, enduring friends over the years as a result of Something Old. That is the lagniappe of my business!
